Marie Kondo spent her childhood obsessively cleaning anything she could get her hands on — and eventually turned that passion into a career. The organizing guru, whose second book, “Spark Joy” (Ten Speed Press), is out now, has since spawned a movement. Here we show how to perfect her unique folding method.
.Lay the shirt on a flat surface, then fold one side toward the center.
.Fold the sleeve back so that it aligns with the shirt’s edge.
.Fold the shirt sleeve back flush with the edge of the rectangle.
.Repeat the process, folding the other side the same way.
.Fold the rectangle in half, so that it’s almost but not quite to the edge. Then, fold in thirds.
.Make sure the rectangle stands on its own before putting it in a drawer.
