One picturesque location in Charleston, South Carolina is Waterfront Park.

This eight-acre park is a must-see stop for visitors in state and from around the world.

It was the vision of longtime mayor, Joseph P. Riley, Jr. who started making plans for a park on the site shortly after taking office in 1975.

At the northern entrance to the park is a large fountain where children can be seen playing from sunup until sundown in the warm months.

From the fountain extends a wooden pier, which leads to the Cooper River which hosts some amazing views of the Harbor.

Also in the park, is a dense canopy of oak trees and benches.

In the middle of the grassy lawn is the Pineapple Fountain.

Pedestrians can soak up the southern culture in this scenic and charming locale.
